One misty morning, just before dawn, the young boy waited on the steps near the banks of the river Ganges. A famous saint Ramananda, who was climbing back after the holy bath, found him touching his feet, just like a disciple. Since that was a holy day for initiation, he took the boy to his Ashram and taught him everything.

Kabir led a life of a tradesman. He was a householder and mystic combined, and never gave up the worldly life altogether. Hundreds of poems are credited to his name, and though some are available in written form, most of them were passed down generation after generation of his disciples, through vernacular means.

Kabirs compositions were full of imagination and had an earthy style to them. He used to express his surprise in the poems, after addressing with some strong words. His poems were full of praise for a true guru, unseen by anyone, and followed a unique path of Islam, Sikhism, and Hinduism combined.

Kabir Panth, the Path of Kabir, is a religious Sikh community. It has a member base of around 10 million, among the Sikh population of the world. Kabir is revered as its founder. Bijak, Sakhi Granth, and Kabir Granthawali are some of his creations.
