The Blutox BlackBerry application software Blutox app has been developed to realize the full potential of the Oxnx II remote patient monitoring. Using Bluetooth, the Blutox app integrates blood oxygen saturation and pulse rate results with the American Thoracic Societys 6 minute walking test 6MWT algorithm and other ambulation/ sitting/ lying down tests.
The 6MWT algorithm can be done in settings remote from the care provider, and outside of the clinical setting. With the Blutox app health care workers in remote areas could transmit diagnostic readings and patient data to clinicians and specialists for review and analysis in support of both clinical diagnosis and patient management.
The Blutox algorithm can inform patients with a BlackBerry what they should do based on their functional capacity and the pulse oximeter readings. With self-monitoring at home, and immediate feedback, post acute-care visits to a primary care physician can be minimized as care plans are monitored real time via the BlackBerry.
